Day Excursions:
JINJA TOWN, SOURCE OF THE NILE AND MABIRA FOREST
We
visit Mabira Forest in Mukono District. The forest is 54kms from
Kampala and offers visitors a rear tropical experie nce.
This forest is a home to over 300 bird species, which include the
Blue Swallow, Gollock, Nahan Falcon. It also has over 312 tree and
shrub species and 218 butterfly species. We will take a nature walk
through the forest as our guide narrates what really happens in the
dense quite forest. The forest is made alive by the various species
of primate and monkey species, which keep sprawling in the tree
canopies as we walk through.
After here, we will drive to the Ssezibwa Falls where we will
experience the traditional importance of rivers in Africa
notwithstanding the natural beauty, that will overcome your
imaginations. The spectacular falls are created by an elevation
difference of 20 meters (over 63 feet), which produce a thunderous
sound as the water gushes through past the magnificent huge white
rocks of exquisite shapes and designs.
Our
next discovery will be directly in the east of Uganda to Jinja. In
Jinja we find the Source of the Nile riv er,
that was discovered by John Hanning Speke in 1862. Because it is a
source, it may give a false impression that it is small or tiny but
already here the Victoria Nile is wider and more impressive than any
other rivers during their whole course.
Here at
the shore of the lake one can relax very well. One can also take a
boat ride to the other shore to experience the source at a close
range.

Our tour will end with a
visit to the mighty Bujagali Falls located about 15minutes from
Jinja town. Be sure to bring your camera for a most memorable day.
