After breakf
ast,
leave our guesthouse, explore the seven hills of Kampala
(popularly known as Rome of Uganda) visit th
e Nakasero market
where all the vegetables grown in Uganda are sold, thereafter
drive to Kibuli hill where the Muslims are building their grand
mosque, it is from here that you view the whole of Kampala
clearly, drive to Rubaga hill taken-up by the Roman Catholics
(and the first Roman Catholic Cathedral here); visit Namirembe
Cathedral the Anglican Christians’ oldest church here; Mengo
hill which is the headquarters of the traditional (the largest
of Uganda’s traditional monarchies). Following the King’s
footsteps as we drive to Buddo coronation site, the very heart
of the ancient and present values and ceremonies of the monarch
of Buganda. All kings of Buganda kingdom to be enthroned must
visit the
site for cultural rituals.
Visit the Kabaka’s lake (Kayanja Ka Kabaka),
the largest man-made lake here, dug up on orders of the tyrant Sekkabaka Mwanga (also a former King), who needed it as an
escape route besides being a place for water sport just adjacent
to his kingdom headq
uarters –
Mengo.
Drive to Kasubi tombs where fallen kings of
Buganda Kingdom are buried. The tombs’ architecture is in
beautiful Ganda style. . Enjoy the traditional dance, music and
story telling. After the drive to Kampala central visiting
Nakasero market and a curio shop for some local crafts.
